Prepare for the Dental Admissions
Test (DAT)
There are a number of books designed to help dentists, dental students,
prospective dental students, dental assistants, and dental hygienists to prepare
for their dental admissions test (DAT), national board examinations (NDBE), and
other examinations. Here's a discussion of the various choice:
-
For the Dental Admissions Test (DAT), the most popular text by
far is the Kaplan DAT with CD-ROM, selling about ten times as fast as the
next most popular text
-
Dental Admission Test (DAT) Computerized Sample Tests and
Guide, Top Score Pro for the DAT is number two in popularity.
-
A distant third is Barron's How to Prepare for the Dental Admission Test
(DAT).
Check America's Dental Bookstore. All of these
DAT test preparation books are listed
there, with helpful comments about each one.
These books are very helpful, and many students
use them. An additional piece of advice in DAT test preparation is to be sure
you are relaxed and well-rested when you take the exam. Have a moderate-sized
breakfast, and keep telling yourself how confident you are. Do not cram
up until the very last minute, as that only tends to increase your anxiety. Have
a cut-off for preparation no later than early in the evening before the test,
and then tell yourself that you're well-prepared, spending the rest of the time
psyching yourself up for the exam.
