Failure in the Restored Dentition
Editorial Reviews
Dimitris Antoniou
This book is an overall approach toward the management of failure in the
restored dentition. The contents include five sections: patient and practice
management, techniques, materials and instrumentation, TMJ disorders, treatment
planning options, and technical appendix. Its purpose is to present the
treatment options for patients with failed restorations and to put emphasis on
cases with extensive restorative work, areas that are most frequently asked
about, and on areas that the author has found to be inadequately covered in
other texts. The book is mainly written for the general practitioner, but a
specialist or a student could benefit significantly from a text like this. The
reader will find excellent quality pictures for step-by-step presentation of
each case, along with detailed diagrams and drawings for easy understanding of
each subject. The appendix of laboratory procedures is a successful attempt to
provide step-by-step descriptions of the techniques used routinely in a working
practice/laboratory environment. This is a very useful book. The author
emphasizes the necessity to assess problems in depth before any form of
treatment is started. This unique book presents the long-term experience of an
expert in the field of restorative dentistry, and that is why every general
dentist, specialist, or student will find helpful information in this excellent
book.

The author presents a management rationale, together with details of some of the
treatment and laboratory stages, illustrated by specific cases photographed
during treatment in a practice environment. His primary objective is to present
an overall approach to the management of failure in the restored dentition, with
emphasis on patients with extensive restorations; areas that are most frequently
asked about; and areas inadequately covered in other texts. The volume is
divided into five sections: patient and practice management; techniques,
materials and instrumentation; temporomandibular disorders and problems of
psychogenic origin; treatment planning options; and an extensive appendix of
laboratory procedures (by Anthony Laurie). Annotation c. Book News, Inc.,
